What happens when artists and scientists work side by side?

From 17 to 23 November 2026, Ohme Lab opens its doors to schools. Classes get access to a lab where art becomes a way of looking at science differently. Sensors, microcontrollers, sound, data and artificial intelligence become materials for creation.

Since 2021, the Lab has supported artists in designing custom technological devices, developed hybrid prototypes and collaborated with university laboratories. During the Lab Open Days, this usually hidden workshop becomes a place of learning. Students discover how an artwork is built, and why a technical choice serves an artist’s intent. This interdisciplinary school outing connects with many subjects in the curriculum, from physics to media literacy.

Schools put together their visit à la carte, choosing from three formats.

Tour & discovery of the works · 1h
A guided tour of the Lab and its technologies, followed by hands-on experience of two interactive works. Each work is explained technically, to show how the device carries the artist’s intent.

Workshop · 2h
A hands-on workshop led by one of the Lab’s artists.

Full programme · 3h
The tour and a workshop combined for a complete immersion.
