machines for good
Machines For Good is a European project funded by the CERV programme (Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values), led by Sineglossa (IT) in collaboration with Ohme (BE), Baltan Laboratories (NL), and Fundación Zaragoza Ciudad del Conocimiento (ES). The project explores how artificial intelligence, when brought into dialogue with artistic practices, can become a catalyst for civic participation and a critical space for reflecting on our technological societies.
Between 2023 and 2024, a series of workshops, training sessions, and experimental gatherings were organised in each partner country — Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Spain. During these activities, AI tools were introduced and used to critically address four key technological challenges:
Technology and sustainability · Technology and democracy · Technology and climate change · Technology and community.
Through artistic and collaborative approaches, artificial intelligence became a medium to question its own social, political, and environmental implications.
Within this framework, Ohme organised several activities:
Workshop AI Thoughts for FOOD? | 12/07/23 – FARI
In collaboration with Brussels-based partners active in the food sector.
Workshop AI Thoughts for REPAIR? | 12/07/23 – FARI
Exploring issues such as repairability and planned obsolescence.
Policy-maker Event: ENGAGE – AI & Citizen Participation | 30/11/23 – FARI
An exploration of how AI combined with art can strengthen civic participation and engagement in democratic processes, with particular attention to climate-related challenges.
International Webinar Bridging AI, Arts, and Citizen Engagement for Democracy | 23/03/24
A moment to reflect on and share the project’s activities and insights.
